Business requirements

When Cisco and the Hellenic American Chamber of Commerce decided to create a competition called ‘Make Innovation Work’, they turned to Technopolis S.A. for building an ‘informational’ site. But innovative ideas prevailed and the project was extended to support an electronic workflow for the complete life cycle of the competition, which included submission of innovative ideas with business plans and evaluating proposals by authorized partners. Additionally the whole process should enforce full confidentiality, a strict pre-requisite of the project.

Implementation

The Project included the design, implementation and support of an informative web site, as well as the development of the necessary user environments, through which participants would be able to submit their proposals and evaluators would be able to study and rank each one of them, without being able to relate any proposal to any specific participant.

After a given ‘workflow’ was agreed, a full-blown application including modules for user registration, interface for creating proposals, submission process, evaluation process and competition results interface was developed.

The application – fully custom-made solution, exclusively developed for the specific Competition – was delivered on time, together with the web site which included all related information. The site was built with Drupal open source Web Content Management System with additional modules developed by Technopolis S.A.

Evaluation

The site was presented at the opening ceremony of the Competition and since then Technopolis S.A. has been providing content, technical and user support for both the site and the application.

Both the site and the application infrastructure are hosted and managed by Technopolis S.A.’s hosting infrastructure and services and have zero (0%) downtime until now.
